Job Description:

This is predominantly an office role, to manage the materials development pipeline and take ownership for the delivery of assigned projects, acting as the lead contact to associated customers.

Based on information received either directly from customers and from BDM’s, establish requirement as standard, customised or bespoke product and provide samples, pricing and supply details. Ensure projects are delivered in line with customer demands and business expectations, providing timely and regular updates on progress to the relevant stakeholders. When required assist the wider business.

There will be daily interaction with colleagues, customers, supply chain partners and other relevant parties via the appropriate method of communication. This includes, but not limited to face-to-face meetings, telephone calls and email.

Main Duties

Be the lead contact for customer projects, where appropriate collaborating with the BDM and other team members.

Using the project briefing document, establish customer requirements as new, replacement or revision and categorise as either a standard, customised or bespoke product.

Samples, Pricing and Supply Details

i. Collate appropriate samples for customers or BDM as requested.

ii. Follow up all enquiries and requests, resolving queries from customers in line with company expectations and agreed time frames.

Review customer orders before passing to Sales and Customer Support team for processing.

Materials Development administration

i. When new product delivered, update Product Inventory and control documents.

ii. Review live items, with BDM / customer to identify and manage obsolescence.

iii. When Product declared obsolete, carry out product obsolescence process

Advice or Recommendations Made

Search out and offer solutions to customers wanting customised or bespoke products, where the development lead-time is beyond the target bottling date.

Advise customers on a regular and timely basis of project progress and next steps.

Based on the information provided by Materials Development - Technical team members, provide potential aesthetic and functionality options to customers.

Where possible offer added values services (e.g. 3D printing) to customers.

Advise relevant stakeholders of new projects received and their progress.

The post holder will be dealing with information regarding materials, specifications, pricing, stock & tooling. The information is in a variety of formats and the post holder will also need to be aware of where such information is held and when updated.

Working Environment

Office Environment with occasional working in the warehouse and sample / testing area.

Occasional requirement to visit customers, supply chain partners and trade events.

Post-holder should always be well presented in business or smart casual attire.

The Role - Materials Development Commercial

Salary - £25,000 - £28,000 pa

Hours - Monday to Friday, 0800 to 1700, 1 hour unpaid lunch break

Benefits -Pension scheme begins at start of 3rd month , death in service benefit, parking

Holidays - 20 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays PLUS 3 additional designated holiday days in between boxing day and new year
